Overview
This introductory qualification is ideal for individuals beginning their journey in the hair and beauty industry. It offers a foundational understanding of the sector, helping learners build the knowledge and confidence needed to pursue employment or further education. The course provides formal recognition of skills and understanding, without requiring prior experience.

​How will I learn?
​
Learning takes place in our on-site, salon-style training environment. Students will engage in both practical and theory sessions, covering a variety of hairdressing and beauty topics. Each unit includes an externally set assignment and an internally assessed component, focusing on hands-on skills and essential knowledge. Alongside technical training, students will also develop key employability skills such as teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and health and safety awareness.
​What will I learn?

To achieve the Level 1 Diploma, students must complete a minimum of 32 credits. This includes two mandatory units and a selection of optional units, which may include but is not limited to:

Hand care

Plaiting hair

Shampooing and conditioning

Styling women’s hair

Nail art

Applying temporary hair colour
These units are designed to provide a broad introduction to both hairdressing and beauty practices.

Delivery includes a mix of theory and practical lessons, with opportunities to work on both simulated and live models. Students will learn how to communicate effectively with clients, maintain professional standards, and work safely and hygienically in a salon environment.
Next Steps

Upon completion, students may choose to pursue an apprenticeship in the hair and beauty sector or continue their education with a Level 2 qualification. This progression supports the development of more advanced, industry-specific skills and opens pathways to a rewarding career in hairdressing, beauty therapy, or related fields.
