Person BTEC Entry Extended Certificate in Entry to Vocational Study
This qualification focuses on building knowledge and skills that can be used across all vocational areas. This course has an animal theme allowing students to explore these skills in an animal sector.
How will I learn?
Woodpecker Court consists of an on-site smallholding with a vast range of animals to enable learners to get hands on with their studies.
What will I learn?
Unit 1: Skills for Learning – students will develop their skills to improve personal development, including self-assessment, time management, organisation and target setting.
Unit 2: Team Challenge – students will develop their skills in teamwork and resilience through team activities, which will help them be more effective when working with others.
Unit 3: Finding Out About a Topic – students will develop their skills in undertaking organised and logical steps to find out about a given topic and share their findings.
Unit 9: Going on a Visit – students will develop their skills in preparing and carrying out a visit to a given location.
Unit 15: Problem Solving by Thinking Creatively - students will develop their skills in thinking creatively to help them be more effective in finding solutions when faced with a problem or challenge.
Unit 17: Managing Time – students will develop their skills in time management and planning, which will help them to be more effective on a day-to-day basis.
Unit 18: Responding to a Situation – students will develop their skills in decision making, problem solving and reflection.
Unit 20: Using Guidance – students will develop their skills in using guidance to follow instructions, processes and procedures.
Method of assessment
Students will be assessed through assignments throughout the course, there will be an assignment for every unit.
These assignments are graded as pass, merit or distinction.
This course will enable students to progress to Level 1 Land-Based or further education.
